SS10 Notes: Nov. 30, 2015

Ah yes, let's continue our adventure into how much John A. MacDonald, the first Prime Minister of Canada, was a jerk. This week we'll be talking about the transcontinental railway. There's no homework today, but if you want to get tomorrow's homework done early, you can read 198-201 and take notes.

Our project this week is on John A. MacDonald's National Policy. Like him or not, the National Policy was important to Canada's early development. Here are the details on Project #10:

Write a research essay on the National Policy. What was it and why was it important to Canada? Research the tariffs, immigration, and the railway (I recommend writing one paragraph about each one. Find specific examples from different texts, and find out why each one is important to Canada's history). Use two resources besides the textbook to complete your essay (we'll be going to the library tomorrow). I recommend thecanadianencyclopedia.com, as well as one of the books we got from the library.
