So much King Lear! By the end of the week, I'll need two things from everyone:
1. This completed worksheet, with questions before, during, and after the performance.
2. Your completed literary devices sheet. I suggest you do a few every day so that it's not overwhelming.
By Monday, you'll be completing your Project #12 (/42). Here are the instructions:
As a large group, create an adaptation of King Lear. You may choose to adapt the entire play, parts of the play, or an act from the play. What's important is that you've creatively changed a great deal, while remaining true to the themes and the plot of the story. You may perform the play in class or record it on video.
It must be roughly 10 minutes long, with everyone involved equally - this means that everyone acts at least a little, and if they're not participating equally in the performance, they need to do more work to get the performance ready. Use costumes, choose the setting carefully, and hand in the script. Complete by Monday. Here's how the marks will break down:
Strong, emotional performances: /18
Setting and costumes that effectively contribute to the performance: /6
A completed and edited script that shows a clear connection to King Lear: /12
A well edited video that is visually and orally clear and pleasant: /6
