Eng 12 Notes: Nov. 26, 2015

It's writin' time.

Project #11 (/40) is to write a persuasive essay on King Lear. Choose one of the prompts below. A few things to bear in mind:

- This will be marked on 30, using the provincial writing rubric as a guide (6 x 5)
- There should be at least 4 quotes, in Shakespearean English, taken from at least three different acts. (/4)
- These quotes need to be properly integrated and cited. (/4)
- I'm going to be treating this similarly to a university professor marking an essay. Therefore, this essay should be formatted properly: this includes a proper title, well edited, and sent in a professional email. (/2)

Here are the prompts:

1. Discuss the nature of truth in King Lear.
2. What message does Shakespeare tell the audience about loyalty?
3. What role do women play in King Lear?
4. Discuss the types of madness found in King Lear.
5. You may choose a thesis that's different, but you have to convince me that it's worthy of writing about.

For tomorrow, complete your introduction and find 4 quotes from different parts of the play.
